Servants' Quarters

There are three halls of bedrooms for the servants to sleep in. Two servants share a room. Their work may be hard and demanding, but their accommodations and food are actually quite nice.

  1. Reo stepped into the room and looked around. He didn't really know what to do, so he just sat down on a bed, staring into space.

  2. Selena knocked on the door of Reo's room then stood outside smiling, waiting patiently for Reo to answer.

  3. Reo padded up to the door and opened it, seeing the empress, quickly stepped backwards and bowed. "H-hello, empress!"

  4. Selena shook her head and waved him back up. "You don't have to bow to me like that, Reo," she told him. "And don't call me empress. It makes me sound too spoiled. Can I come in?" She asked him politely.

  5. Reo looked up and nodded slightly, still slightly shocked that the leader would actually visit the servants.

  6. Selena smiled at Reo, and stepped inside. "So how are you liking your room?" She asked him.

  7. Reo nodded politely at her again. "It's really big," he remarked. "A lot bigger than our previous living quarters. I didn't know that servants could have such spacious quarters, my em-" Reo stopped himself just in time.

  8. Selena raised a perfect eyebrow, then shrugged. "You don't have to tell me if you don't want to," she said. "It's your choice. Anyway, I believe that the servants must be treated with a lot of respect, because if it weren't for them, the kingdom won't be run properly. I might demand a lot, but I give back the same amount in return. Then it's a fair exchange," she explained to Reo.

  9. Reo nodded quietly, not quite absorbing the information (SPONGE).

  10. "Anyway," Selena sighed. "I figured you might like to know your schedule and mine, since you'll be serving me and all. So here." She handed him two pieces of parchment. "I'll be able to contact you with that, something that you'll be able to turn off and off." She pointed to an intercom next to the door. "If it's off at night, I'll expect you to be sleeping. If it's off in the morning, I'll expect you to be... still sleeping. And I'll respect that, just try to go with the schedule, okay?"

  11. Reo nodded again, struck by awe at the empress' kindess.

  12. Selena smiled at him. "So. Tell me about yourself."

  13. "Erm...Hanashi and I sailed from the eastern country when....when times were bad. And....we ended up here?"

  14. Selena could see that Reo was uncomfortable talking about this, so she let it go. "Fascinating. Well, I suppose I'd better go. See you around, Reo!" She smiled, and strode out of the room.

  15. Reo bowed self-consciously (I think) as the empress left.
