Kenny plopped himself on the bed, rubbing his eyes. It's been a long day, traveling to the realm and all. His brown eyes looked toward the doorway, squinting at the sunlight.
Selena knocked on the door of the Heir's Quarters. She had made it a tradition to visit every single new person. After Hanashi and Reo, she was here to talk to Kenny.
Selena smiled. "Hope so." She paused, leaning against the door. "So I know there's... what, five or so people so far in this kingdom? I haven't been queen for long, and this place still has a while to grow. I also know that it's best to adjust things to what you want them to be while their young... so because there isn't a High Advisor yet, I'm coming to you: Do you think there are things to be changed? Decrees to be announced? Rules to be set?"
Kenny stared at the ground. "Well, it would be better if the rules are set quickly, so that people won't go off doing something you wouldn't agree on. Such as going off into a forbidden area?"
"True. But what would we forbid? The Death Lake? Forest of the Unknown? The Battle Arena?" Selena said last, jokingly, knowing how hard people sparred when they were training in the Arena.
Kenny grinned. "Whichever you think is dangerous enough that you could forbid going there or set rules that only a certain rank could go." With a shrug he added, "Something like that."
Selena smiled and opened her mouth to answer, but Reo's voice interrupted her train of thought. "Come in!" She called, and nodded to Kenny. "That's Reo. The servant."
Selena watched Kenny cautiously, knowing that Reo was not someone who would expect someone to be kind to him. She didn't want Kenny to be too arrogant and abuse his power in the Realm either.
Reo stepped into the room and bowed slightly at the two people inside, placing the tray on the table in the middle of the room. He then stepped backwards and closed his black eyes, waiting for further commands.
Selena smiled at Reo, though she knew he couldn't see anyway. "That's fine now, Reo. You can go - unless Kenny wants something," she added, looking over at the black-haired heir.
"Agreed," Selena nodded. "However we do need servants... and I know that wherever he came from he was one too. You don't have to feel sorry for him, you can go look at the Servants' Quarters and decide for yourself." Her voice turned sharp, guilt quickly transforming into anger.
Kenny gripped the edge of his bed. "I thought you wanted me to help you set some new rules. Or do I have to just follow orders and not place in my own comment?" The heir snapped.
"Keep your extraneous thoughts to yourself. Only provide me and our community with necessary, helpful ideas. Don't waste our time," the Empress responded smoothly, eyes cold and calm. "The only reason you are "helping" me is that there is no High Advisor to help me. Which, I assure you, would be much more efficient and helpful."
"Don't sass me," Selena told him reproachfully. "I'm the Empress. i don't abuse my power, but I will if I have to." She gave him another reprimanding glance then sighed. "We mustn't argue if we wish to work together and trust each other," the Empress said, half to herself.
"Magical boundaries, perhaps? I know Fallera has had some training in sorcery." Selena looked thoughtful as she pondered her choices. "We have no knights or hunters besides Fallera so we cannot physically guard it. We need to be able to stop them without being there."
Selena shrugged. "Nobody goes there because it sounds dangerous, but I think it's just a myth. It does have a bloody history, but there won't be ghosts coming out of the water to grab you and drown you into the depths of the river, like the villagers think."
Kenny managed a small smile. "Sure. But I don't think I'm very good..." That was sort of a lie. Kenny had looked at his parents' archery equipment before, but...he's never really played. Hopefully Selena wouldn't mind.

ReplyDeleteKenny jumped slightly at the sharp knock cutting through the silence in the room. "Come in!"

Selena unlocked the door and stepped in quietly. "Hi, Kenny," she greeted him. "What do you think about your room? Or rather, rooms."
ReplyDeleteKenny put on a faint smile. "Not bad. It's better than before, that's for sure."

Selena smiled. "Hope so." She paused, leaning against the door. "So I know there's... what, five or so people so far in this kingdom? ReplyDelete(Want Reo to send something up to them? (Like food) Sorry, but I really wanna comment P:)
ReplyDelete(Okay, I don't mind. Go ahead, if WCL doesn't mind either.)
ReplyDelete(Yeah, I'm fine with it.)
ReplyDeleteKenny grinned. "Whichever you think is dangerous enough that you could forbid going there or set rules that only a certain rank could go." With a shrug he added, "Something like that."

Reo knocked on the door. "Tea is here!" he announced to the two behind the door.
ReplyDeleteSelena smiled and opened her mouth to answer, but Reo's voice interrupted her train of thought. "Come in!" She called, and nodded to Kenny. "That's Reo. The servant."
ReplyDeleteKenny looked toward the door, curiosity in his eyes. "Reo, huh?" His eyes flashed, although the heir was smiling. "I'm Kenny."

Selena watched Kenny cautiously, knowing that Reo was not someone who would expect someone to be kind to him. She didn't want Kenny to be too arrogant and abuse his power in the Realm either.
ReplyDeleteReo stepped into the room and bowed slightly at the two people inside, placing the tray on the table in the middle of the room. He then stepped backwards and closed his black eyes, waiting for further commands.

ReplyDeleteKenny shook his head. "I'm fine."
ReplyDelete- Kenny -
Selena nodded. "Good. Okay, Reo. Thank you, you are dismissed."
ReplyDeleteReo nodded and padded back out of the room, closing the door quietly behind him.
ReplyDeleteKenny tilted his head. "I didn't think he would be a servant, considering he could probably make a pretty good knight..."
ReplyDelete- Kenny -
"Agreed," Selena nodded. "However we do need servants... and I know that wherever he came from he was one too. You don't have to feel sorry for him, you can go look at the Servants' Quarters and decide for yourself." Her voice turned sharp, guilt quickly transforming into anger.
ReplyDeleteKenny narrowed his eyes. "I was just thinking aloud. Or is that so bad?"
ReplyDelete- Kenny -
"Ever heard of 'keep your thoughts to yourself'?" Selena shot back, her blue eyes flaring.
ReplyDeleteKenny gripped the edge of his bed. "I thought you wanted me to help you set some new rules. Or do I have to just follow orders and not place in my own comment?" The heir snapped.
ReplyDelete- Kenny -
"Keep your extraneous thoughts to yourself. Only provide me and our community with necessary, helpful ideas. Don't waste our time," the Empress responded smoothly, eyes cold and calm. "The only reason you are "helping" me is that there is no High Advisor to help me. Which, I assure you, would be much more efficient and helpful."
ReplyDeleteKenny rose an eyebrow. "I guess that' why I'm the heir ."
ReplyDelete- Kenny -
"Don't sass me," Selena told him reproachfully. "I'm the Empress. i don't abuse my power, but I will if I have to." She gave him another reprimanding glance then sighed. "We mustn't argue if we wish to work together and trust each other," the Empress said, half to herself.
ReplyDeleteKenny tapped his fingers on the bed, nodding slowly. "I agree. So, where were we?"
ReplyDelete- Kenny -
"Making borders and restrictions around the island," Selena told him, becoming her brisk, businesslike self.
ReplyDeleteKenny looked down in thought. "How did you want to make the restrictions? We could always restrict the Death Lake somehow..."
ReplyDelete- Kenny -
"Magical boundaries, perhaps? I know Fallera has had some training in sorcery." Selena looked thoughtful as she pondered her choices. "We have no knights or hunters besides Fallera so we cannot physically guard it. We need to be able to stop them without being there."
ReplyDeleteKenny smirked. "Then we'll have to use magic boundaries, correct?" He bit his lip. "Anymore places you can think of?"
ReplyDelete- Kenny -
"Perhaps the forest, but we need it when we hunt for food." Selena leaned against the table, her chin in her palm.
ReplyDeleteKenny stared to the right of him. "Is the Bloody Stream as dangerous as it sounds, or..."
ReplyDelete- Kenny -
Selena shrugged. "Nobody goes there because it sounds dangerous, but I think it's just a myth. It does have a bloody history, but there won't be ghosts coming out of the water to grab you and drown you into the depths of the river, like the villagers think."
ReplyDeleteKenny nodded. "Then there won't be a point for borders." He paused. "Any more rules?"
ReplyDelete- Kenny -
Selena shrugged again. "What do you think?"
ReplyDeleteKenny bit his bottom lip. "There are always rules like...how far you could go when battling another. If we're allowed to kill or something."
ReplyDelete- Kenny -
Selena smirked, an almost frightening smirk. "You can always kill. Just not your own men."
ReplyDeleteKenny looked down, watching his shoe scrape at the floor. "What else?"
ReplyDelete- Kenny -
"Nothing, I suppose." She sighed, sitting back. "I'm bored. You wanna go to the archery range?" Selena asked her heir.
ReplyDeleteKenny managed a small smile. "Sure. But I don't think I'm very good..." That was sort of a lie. Kenny had looked at his parents' archery equipment before, but...he's never really played. Hopefully Selena wouldn't mind.
ReplyDelete- Kenny -
Selena shrugged. "That's why you have to practice it then," she told him, and stood up. "So you wanna meet there? I'll just get my archery equipment."
ReplyDeleteKenny nodded. "Alright. See you later, then." He stood up, walking to the doorway.
